Shay Owners Club Officers

      Vice President Kyle Bruno is a Shay collector, with four Shay or Camelot cars (album page), including a 1980 Super Deluxe, an '81 Super Deluxe Polar Bear, an '85 Camelot Thunderbird, and an '85 Camelot Pickup. He's a principal/partner at River Valley Recycling, LLC in Kankakee, IL. He attended the SOCI Annual Meetings in 2024 and 2025, and took the Vice President position at the 2025 Annual Meeting elections. His reflection on this little corner of the collector car hobby is "Great cars, easy to work on, people love them at car shows! Very honored to be asked to be on this board for two years, [serving this] great group of people." (wtk)

      President William (Bill or Will) Kern is a retired automotive mechanical engineer, born in Detroit, a "car guy" since childhood. He was a welder and toolmaker for 10 years, entering the engineering profession in 1984, eventually earning a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at U of M. He was a racing driver in late-model modified stock cars on the ARCA circuit, driving oval track and Figure-8 events in the mid-1970s. He's a licensed pilot with advanced ratings and aerobatics experience. He has worked as a professional photographer, published in Vintage Racer, Horseless Carriage Gazette, Cruis'n, Plane and Pilot, and American Bungalow magazines, and at Hagerty.com. He has a single, 1980 Shay Super Deluxe Roadster, acquired in 1994. He was elected to the position of President at the 2025 SOCI Annual Meeting. (wtk)

      Treasurer Kathy Kern is a Lecturer in the School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. A lifelong resident of the metro Detroit area, she is a United States Air Force, Vietnam Era veteran, having served as an Aerospace Ground Equipment (A.G.E.) Mechanic.  Returning to civilian life, she worked her way up as a salesman of high-voltage electrical equipment through the 1980s to 2000s. In the early 21st century, she attended UofM full time, achieving a Master's Degree in Kinesiology and a teaching position. She was elected as Treasurer at the 2025 SOCI annual meeting. (wtk)
